Persian Enameling

Persian Enameling

Persian enameling is the art of fusion of a glassy substance to the surface of a metalware as an ornament or for its protection. Each object will be placed in furnace 8 times and be heated 200 to 800 centigrade on average to make the glazed color look good. The art is 4000 years old and the oldest enameled objects found reveals that like many other arts which were originated in Iran, enameling was firstly introduced in this country and found its way to the other countries then. The aristocratic families used to keep enameled objects like: ewer, snuffbox, cigarette box etc. in their home in the past. The production centers of enameling in Iran are Isfahan and Shiraz. Enameled plates are a royal souvenir you can buy for your beloved ones in your travel to Iran!
